Novel process combined extrusion and severe plastic deformation for plate component with rib-web structure of magnesium alloys

Plates with rib-web structure of magnesium alloys are hardly to be fabricated through the conventional method. In this work, variable circular channel angular extrusion (VCCAE) combined and severe plastic deformation is proposed, in which billet undergoes at several channel. The FE model for VCCAE scaling plate ribs established, experimental setup designed. feasibility novel process accuracy validated by simulations experiments. Stress state effective strain distribution longitudinal section cross analyzed. results show that stress extremely inhomogeneous obvious concentration shear plane founded. microstructure region more uniform finer, validate induced could promote uniformity grain refinement. numerical simulation experiments demonstrate proposed paper feasible it has great potential manufacture high-performance ribs.
